Happy Halloween!
Today is the big day! The kids FINALLY get to wear their costumes AND trick-or-treat! They have been very excited. I'll have lots of pictures to post tomorrow I'm sure! Enjoy Halloween!
Oh- for those of you who don't know, I'm a Halloween stat geek. I'll have stats on how many trick-or-treaters we had at our door!

Halloween Festivities!
This weekend was filled with lots of activities. I took Chicky Magoo 1 to the Children's Museum "Kid Friendly Haunting Hours" with her friends. She wasn't so sure about it, and didn't think it was "friendly" enough for her. She did like going with her friends though.
We also went to Auntie Magoo 1's and carved pumpkins! We had a good time, with chili, hot-dogs, pumpkin seeds, cookies, and tons of other goodies. The kids LOVED it! We also built a haunted cookie house that my parents sent. It was a lot of fun and the kids really enjoyed decorating it. After we were done decorating, we found out it really was haunted. The roof started sliding off for no reason. It couldn't be that I didn't read the directions and wait the 15 minutes it said. I really think it was just haunted!! Uncle Magoo 1 told us as it was sliding off that "I saw you were supposed to wait 15 minutes before decorating" Thanks Uncle Magoo 1! :) Anyway- he fixed it, with a few tools he had. Here is a picture of what the house looked like after a little roof repair. Yes- the books are supporting the clamps, which is holding up the house! Nice! :)
Now we know- Mommy is NOT an engineer!

A Place to Sit
After many months of deliberation, we have decided to take the plunge and get a few pieces of furniture for the house. The downstairs doesn't have any seating now, and the upstairs could use at least one more chair! :) So- we called our friend Dale Hughes and he is helping us get this whole thing together. Hopefully before the holidays we can have a place to sit!!

Kobe
Does anyone want to weight in on the latest discussion that we have had? Is it pronounced Ko-Bee or Ko-Bay? I have a letter in to the Mayor of Kobe, Japan to see what he has to say about it. (pictured to the right) Hopefully- he will clear this all up for us!! In the mean time...anyone else know?

Vegas
We had a GREAT trip! Things went well!! I seemed to have some great luck on this trip! I found a machine called the Money Belt, that seemed to pay out quite a bit! I stayed at that machine for a lot of the time we were there. The second day, we were at the machines so much, that it was about 2 or 3pm before we even checked the time. Time does fly when you are having fun!
A few highlights of the trip:
1) We saw Pete Rose, and took a picture! Now if I can figure out how to get it to my email, I'll post it up.
2) I played Let It Ride and got a Full House on the first play! That was the best $10 I've ever spent in Vegas! (It payed $420!!!)
3) We got to have Kobe Burgers at the Burger Bar! If you have never had Kobe Beef, you need to! YUM!!
4) I played The Price is Right machine, but told myself I was only going to have one spin. I just wanted to play the bonus game and spin the wheel. On my only spin I got to spin the wheel, and play the showcase. I won the large showcase and on my $2 I won $150! Nice!
5) We went to the Bellagio for their buffet! The desserts are amazing!
6) The Luxor has about the worst buffet I've ever had. We only did that once!
7) Auntie and Uncle Magoo 1 sent us to a daiquiri place that had some good drinks! They told us to get the cherry bombs (cherries soaked in Ever-clear). The guy wouldn't sell them to us and told us that it would just be mean if he did. Maybe we looked like we had had a few or something!?!
8) I got carded at a game called Sci Bo.
9) We had a good time saying "Cigars, Cigarettes" in an eastern european accent. Apparently, this is who goes around saying it at the casinos. We figure it sounds better when they say it, instead of some American yelling it, and sounding plain!
10) We had some pretty amusing cabbies this time. I think each of them had a story and were nice. That is a first for me on The Strip!
11) We got comped 2 nights on our hotel stay! BONUS!
Knowledge of Ms. Magoo (tm)
Thinking: How many pictures of me are in photo albums of people I don't know?
Contemplating: Finding a sport to play for some exercise. Anyone for some badminton?
Amazed at: The amount of information the casino has about each player at any given moment!

Misc.
Well- we got the carpets cleaned, and the house is ready! We are heading to Vegas in a few days to have some fun on the Strip! I'm getting a few last minute things done before we head out. Basically today will be filled with errands! Now if we can figure out how to pack everything without putting any liquid in our bags we will be set! I HATE checking bags! It just takes too long. So- we are trying to gather everything up and go "sans liquid!" I can't promise that our hair won't look totally fried in pictures without gels, spray, etc.! Hopefully we can buy some of that stuff there!

Ye Old Rug Doctor
Well- this week's plan is to do some carpet cleaning. I hate to say it, but we have never been happy when someone has come to the house and cleaned our carpets. We have done the Rug Doctor probably 6 times since we have been married and it always does the job. Of course, the entire time we have the thing rented, we say things like "We should have called someone else out here to do this!" "This thing takes FOREVER!" "This is a LOT of work!" But- we have had people out, and it always seems like the carpet looks almost the way it did before they came. If anyone has any suggestions as to who to use, please let me know. I have a feeling though, that the doctor will be making another house call! Oh well....

Go Chicky Magoo 1!
Friday after Chicky Magoo 1's School Mass, she got an award from school!! She received the REACH award, and was the first ever to get it! GO CHICKY MAGOO 1! The award is given to the child who best displays the "Gospel Values" for the previous month.
At the beginning of the year the school they gave us a list of Gospel Values, that they were going to work on throughout the year!
The Gospel Values are: (and by the way, they are great vocabulary words for Kindergarteners too!)
1- Respect
2- Perserverance
3- Compassion
4- Forgiveness
5- Gratitude
6- Teamwork
7- Responsibility
8- Humility
9- Honesty
10- Reverence
11- Patience
During the school week, the Principal gives kids "high fives" or "quick steps," if she "catches" one of them practicing a Gospel Values. It is fun for the kids to actually be able to understand the words and realize that some of the things that they already do are on the list! They work on these a lot, and Chicky Magoo 1 can actually give a definition and example for almost all of them!
We were so PROUD of her for getting her REACH award! She was VERY excited to be called up! GO CHICKY MAGOO 1! I know I have a lot of pictures, but HEY, I'm her MOM! :)

Deech Spyslexia
Why do I have this problem?
Example A:
At Burger King:
Me: I would like a Whopper. No Tettuce or Lomato.
Burger King Lady "Do you mean No Lettuce or Tomato?"
Me: "Whatever"
Example B:
Today While Talking to My Mom:
Me: "Have you seen the Pacers? Nice."
Mom (trying to read the article): "What happened?"
Me: "He Shired A Fot!"
Mom: Hysterical Laughter...
Me: "Whatever"

Event Stuff
For the past few days I haven't been able to post as often as I'd like to. The reason is Tri Kappa! :) Auntie Magoo 1 and I have been frantically trying to get donations for our groups 1st Annual Breakfast with Santa the 1st weekend in December. We have done pretty well so far, and it never ceases to amaze me how little effort it takes to get people to donate for these things. I've even gotten tickets to Holiday World, Marengo Cave, and the Indy Zoo! I think the event will be fun, an a huge success for us! (at least I hope, since I am the advertising chairman!) Anyway- just wanted to let you all know what I've been up to these last few days!

Pumpkin Patch
Yesterday Chicky Magoo 1 had the day off of school, so we decided to go to The Apple Works to pick out our pumpkins. The kids were very excited about being able to get our pumpkins! The weather was just about perfect yesterday, so we enjoyed the entire event. When we got there we headed out into the pumpkin patch, which just fascinated both of them. All of the other "pumpkin patches" we have been to over the years, have actually been pumpkins that were already picked and in barrels for you to pick out. So- to watch the kids see how the pumpkins were grown was fun. Chicky Magoo 2 was as excited, and acted as if it was an Easter egg hunt! She kept saying "Oh WOW! There is ANOTHER one!" Chicky Magoo 1 was fascinated at how they grew on the vine, and also at the giant yellow flowers.
After the pumpkin patch we went over to the petting zoo. The kids got to feed the sheep and bunnies. There were goats, that were apparently too full to eat, and a few donkeys too. The kids were petting the sheep when all of a sudden one of them let out a loud "BAA!" It didn't sound like any other sheep I had ever heard. It actually sounded like an old man saying "baa," which just cracked up about everyone that was there. Each time the kids would get it to say "baa," Chicky Magoo 1 would start to belly laugh. Then everyone around would laugh at either the sheep or Chicky Magoo 1's laughing, we aren't sure!
After a serious scrubbing of our hands, we headed back to the main part of Apple Works. They had TONS of apples, which Chicky Magoo 1 decided would be perfect for an apple pie. So- we bought a variety of apples that they recommended and made an apple pie last night. Mr. Magoo said it was really good, and Chicky Magoo 1 and Chicky Magoo 2 liked helping to make the pie!
