Curling Anyone?

I watched a few Curling events during the Olympics, and each time they are on, I think I really would enjoy playing that sport. Mr. Magoo and I did some research into it and found out that after each match tradition has it that you go get pizza and beer. Ok- so we REALLY like this sport now! In fact, we found out that after the Olympic event they have a place they all go, designed especially for them, so that each team can eat pizza and have a beer or two. Amazing!

Now that our interests were piqued, I wrote the US Curling Association, to see if there was a league in Indiana. A few days later, I got an email that there was some interest, but that no one had actually gotten a league together yet. Then to our surprise we got another email. A lady asked us if WE (of all people) wanted to head the league, and get it started!! Um- we don't really know what the sport is, we just liked the pizza and beer part! :) I think we will be turning that offer down...

I do hope they get a league started though! It sounds like fun!
Back From Vegas

We are back and exhausted! It was a great trip- and I'll post pictures later. :)

Vegas...My Kind of Town!

Yesterday was packed with even more things, and of course more random events. You know your day is going to start off right when you get steak for breakfast. Not only steak, but chips and salsa too. Vegas seems to really be my kind of place! YUM! We did some shopping and stopped at the Luxor and Excalibur. While we were at the Excalibur, Mr. Magoo said that he enjoys playing Baccarat, and that it's a game that he can usually play for a few hours on a little money. So- we sat down at a table, where I told the lady that I didn't know how to play and she just smiled. We found out just 5 minutes later, that her smile was apparently because she was going to take all of our money rather quickly. We lost $100 in 5 minutes on that table. Lesson learned: Don't play Baccarat at a table in the Excalibur!

Mr. Magoo and I are always in pursuit of the perfect steak. He had gone to a place called Craft Steak before and said it was good, so we tried it last night. I am pleased to report that Craft Steak has taken a slight lead in taste and quality over Ruth's Chris for me. It was the BEST steak I have ever had I am pretty sure. It was Kobe beef, which of course is always a plus, but then the way it was prepared was amazing. I would say if you are in Vegas, check this place out!

I have been eyeing up the Star Wars slot machines, but until yesterday had yet to play them. We walked by them and I decided to play. Mr. Magoo was watching and said "Use the Force." We laughed and I took a spin. I got nothing for it and thought this would be a quick few dollars down the tubes. Then on the next spin I hit $125 bucks! The lady next to me was all excited for us, and we cashed out. Then later on in the day Mr. Magoo asked me if I was "feeling the force?" We chuckled and then sat down again. On the 3rd spin this time I won $129 bucks! So needless to say we are big fans of Star Wars..........the movie, AND the slot machine! :)

We went to see Penn and Teller last night, which was great! We were in the second row, center,, so a decent amount of the show was happening around us. After the show, we got to meet them, which was I have to say one of those things I have always wanted to do. The one thing that I've always sort of wondered about..."what does Teller really sound like?" NOW I KNOW! :) He was a really nice guy...but then again I would probably be nice to people too if each one had paid about $100 to see me each and every night! I digress. It was nice to finally hear what he sounds like and to actually get to talk to him. He is apparently from Norway, and has 3 children. His first wife and he got along rather well, until that unfortunate accident. Now though, he enjoys riding his horses, and just kicking back with friends. Ok- ok....So I only said a few words to him and didn't actually find ANY of this out about him. It is just a guess.

Live From Vegas...

It is amazing what all you can do in Vegas in one day! We have not been here 24 hours yet, and we've already met lots of people, played the slots, tables, had some fun at an Irish Pub, then went the The House of Blues, watched dueling pianos, walked the strip, and saw The Blue Man Group!

I'll post up pictures later, but for now.....

Random Events that Have Occurred:
*In a span of 2 hours we talked to about 8 people. Out of those 8 people 4 of them had Chicky Magoo 1's birth date.

*When at the House of Blues, we were seated next to the Red Hat Society members. Imagine older women in red hats and purses, looking all done up in a blues bar. Yes- it is funny~

*While at the Irish Pub, a group of about 15 Irishmen started singing (ok- singing is a loose term here) some drinking songs at the downstairs bar, while the waiters upstairs started yelling Go Home and other fun things.

*While at the dueling piano bar at New York, New York, there was a table of about 10 people from Scotland. They were requesting lots of music, and seemed to know just about every American song the guys played....EXCEPT The Piano Man?!? There was a sing-a-long for that song with drinks raised and some swaying, but they seemed to not know what we were all saying. They did know songs like...Hey Jude, Old Time Rock-n-Roll, Little Red Corvette, and last but not least...Sweet Home Alabama (to which we were to sing where we were from. So I guess it was Sweet Home Scotland actually.)

I'll post more later! Off to eat some grub and then gamble away some more cash!

Love the Lens

Thanks to my wonderful husband, and kids, I got an amazing birthday gift! I have been wanting a telephoto lens for a while now. Since I am not one that really enjoys research at ALL, I haven't done any...Leading to not having a lens picked out that I wanted to buy. So- I relied on my good friend Hawkins, to do the research and testing for me! He gave me some advice on the ins and outs, since we both have a Canon.

So- lots of my pictures today will be taken with the new Canon EF 28-135mm lens! Yea!
Birthdays Rock!

Happy Birthday To ME! So today I'm turning 31. If anyone else besides my parents remember, the exact moment will be around dinner time this evening! :)

I have always wondered why people get so upset about birthdays? It is just turning one year older? What is the big deal? As my Grandpa says "It is better than the alternative!" Do people really not get that EVERYONE on the planet is another day older, each day? Does this bother everyone that as a whole we are aging? It must, I guess.

The only birthday that even sort of bothered me was my 25th. I think it was at that point that I realized that responsibility had sort of set in, and college was behind me. Ok- and that I had to check the next box when I was asked the age question: I was now in the 25-30 category. Other than that one, I just think of it as another great day for people to offer gifts! :D

(Ok- for those of you who don't know me...I think gifts are the greatest things going! Giving or Receiving!)

We are heading up to Mr. Magoo's parents today. Tomorrow is the big trip to Vegas! Mr. Magoo and I have planned this trip for about 4 years, and it is finally here.

Wine is Good; Whine is Bad

This picture I took in Napa Valley, while on a wine tour. To get the real effect, go get a glass of wine and then look at the picture again! :)

Why is it when you ask for water, people look at you like you
have asked for something strange? I've learned to say "A water for now," which seems to be better for people to handle.

There's More Than Corn In Indiana...But Not Much

This is one of my favorite pictures. Granted, it is corn....but I still like it!
My New Blog

Let me start by saying that I LOVE PHOTOS! I am constantly taking pictures to see what kinds of interesting things I can shoot. A lot of my time is spent with my family, so naturally I have a LOT of family photos. I do also enjoy taking pictures of things in nature, and often see what kinds of interesting angles I can get from those kinds of shots. I've started this blog as a place I can post the pictures and easily share them with people.
