My parents were getting ready for a garage sale, when my Mom found an old phone. She gave it to the kids to play with for a while while we were busy doing the pricing and arranging of other items. Later we found them "using" the phone. They were both really excited about the phone and thought it was really the coolest one they had seen. They both thought it was some sort of dual phone, where everyone got to talk, but didn't know why they were "stuck" together. It never occurred to me that they had never used a phone like this one before. . This is when I realized that 1), yes, I am growing older, and 2) my kids would not really get joy of having to stay in one place while talking... technology that we used "back in the day."
As my Mom would say "Heavy sigh."

Pump It Up!
The kids and I went to Pump It Up with our friends while we were in Evansville. The kids had a blast, and we were glad to take them somewhere to wear them out! I think Gretchen and I had just as much fun on the slide as the kids did.
You can see from this picture that in the middle part of one of the bouncers there is a giant circle. I decided it would be fun to launch myself on to it and see how high the kids flew off. To my surprise, not as far as you would think. They cracked up as they launched off, and of course so did I. It was one of my highlights of the trip. We all started laughing so hard we were crying.

The Giz
Several of you have asked for pictures of our "other child." She is with me now in Evansville for the week, and wishing my parents new puppy would just sit still and stop bothering her. Gizmo doesn't have the spunk she used to, but still behaves herself. I guess at 10 (or so) she should be slowing down.
Here is a picture of her rival for the week....Elle. Gizmo is trying to teach her the rules, but she is more interested in finding Kleenex and trying to run through the house. Poor Gizmo doesn't know what to think.

Random Act of Kindness
Today I took the girls to Chicago's Pizza for dinner. I was going to make spaghetti, but they talked me into going out. (okay it didn't take a WHOLE lot of convincing) While we were there the girls were watching the pizza being made and I went over to stand by them. Then our pizza came and we ate at our table. As we were finishing up this older gentlemen came over to us and put down 2 mints and said "Have a nice dinner!" When you pay your bill at the restaurant, they give you mints, and I figured that he didn't want the mints and just saw the girls and thought he would give it to them and make them smile. I said thank you, and he walked away. About a minute later the waitress came over and asked me if I had seen the couple sitting at the table? I said no I didn't, thinking she was going to say he skipped out on the bill, or that we shouldn't have eaten the candy we just got or something strange. She said "Well- he just paid for your meal!" I said "What?" and she just smiled and said "I asked them if they knew you and they said no, but that is pretty cool!" That is what I thought!! I still have no idea why he bought my dinner, but I thought it was a cool thing to do for someone. It certainly made my evening..........and gave me a blog post!!!
I just wanted to post a shout out to the older couple in Chicago's Pizza tonight!
