Computer Withdraw!!!

Without warning, my computer just decided that it wasn't going to turn on again?!? I tried to hard boot it after it wouldn't come out of sleep mode, but instead it just didn't ever turn on again. Mr. Magoo got to call Apple and see what was going on. Of course, they have no idea, and it will need to be sent in for repairs. My fear of losing all of my info on the computer might be coming true. No pictures, but some word documents for Tri Kappa that I would like to not have to redo. I know, I know, back it up! It isn't THAT important, just an annoyance! So now, I'm using Mr. Magoo's old Dell. Yes- this is the same one that I told him to get rid of, because it was too loud. I'd rather have loud than nothing at all though!

Birthday Happenings...

I had a good birthday! Mr. Magoo took me to one of my favorite restaurants for dinner. Yeah Outback!

It was, let's say, an interesting dinner. We started off by being told that the wait would be about 45 minutes. This was after Chicky Magoo 1's dance class, and when the kids were really ready for some food. Since it was going to be so long, he took the kids to Borders and I hung out to wait for a table. As I sat there I heard them tell people as long as an hour to an hour and a half. I've never understood why Outback continues to construct their buildings in a way as to have a weekday wait be at least an hour is beyond me. Oh well. Anyway- after 10 minutes the pager went off. Huh? So- I text messaged Mr. Magoo and told him I was already sitting at the table. As I was being seated I realized that there were at least 10-12 tables opened around ours. What's up with that I have no idea?

Once the kids and Mr. Magoo got back, we had of course, the Bloomin' Onion. We had the typical dinner, full of laughing and stories. We laughed so much that most of these pictures look like we are tired. :)

I had a nice drink. It was some sort of strawberry, lemonade thing that was pretty good.

The steaks were taking forever to get there, when Mr. Magoo said "You know, our steaks are going to be wrong when they get here." I said "Yes, I know." We just both had a feeling! Then they brought them. They were WRONG! His rare steak extra seasoning was medium extra seasoning, and my medium was well done!?! I think there is a reason that they don't use well done steaks in promotional material. It wasn't even worth taking a photo of myself. Yuck! It had already taken so long for our food that Mr. Magoo was getting a little mad at the whole thing. They brought his steak back and it was right this time. Thank goodness! My rule of thumb that I will be forgotten at a restaurant held up I guess. They hadn't brought mine yet, so again I waited. Later they brought mine and it was right too.

I forgot to mention that while we were waiting on the food the kids got a little restless. Chicky Magoo 1 said in a way that I could say "Common' lady! Where's our food? This is taking forever!"Chicky Magoo 2 had enough and just said "Poop!" Mr. Magoo told her we don't say that, so a few minutes later she says loudly so most of the people around us could hear "We don't say pee and poop!" She was very serious as she told us that. Um- yes Chicky Magoo 2, that is the rule! After Chicky Magoo 2 said this Chicky Magoo 1 couldn't control her laughter...which made us all laugh, and we ended up looking like a bunch of fools that laugh each time our kid says poop. Nice! (okay, but funny!)

By the time we got our food we didn't have enough time for dessert. It was a little crazy, but we did have a good time.

To make my birthday complete I needed a cake, so I crafted a "candle" out of the steak knife, and the "cake" was a baked potato. lol! I am a big fan of icing, but I wasn't about to wait 45 minutes for some. (check out Mr. Magoo's excitement about the evening!)

Stuff...

I haven't posted in a while. The last few days have been filled with doctors. Chicky Magoo 2 had a sinus infection and got 4 teeth, and Mr. Magoo broke his finger. I think he has to go back today and get his hand checked out. I'm sure he will keep you updated.

Since today is Ash Wednesday I'm sure Chicky Magoo 1 will be busy at school. (and I KNOW I'll be hungry! :) For us, today officially kicks off the "Long John Silvers Season." I haven't picked what I'm giving up for Lent yet, so I'd better get on that!

Valentine's Day Surprise!

Here is a picture of the girls on Valentine's Day in their new outfits from Great Gran!

We spent most of the day inside, since there was a lot of snow outside and it was too cold to go play in the snow. Mr. Magoo told the girls in the morning that they would be getting a surprise later that day. They couldn't wait to find out what it was, and kept asking when it would get here. Then it finally came....

They are always fans of cookies! (of course, so am I!)

Two minutes after the delivery guy delivered the cookies, the doorbell rang again. It was the delivery guy. This time he asked for a shovel because he got stuck in the snow. Whoops! So- Mr. Magoo went out and helped the Cookies By Design guys get out of the snow. Happy Valentine's Day! (I guess Mr. Magoo was also surprised this Valentine's Day!)

No School Again! (oh yeah, and Happy Valentine's Day!)

We don't have any school again today, so Chicky Magoo 1's Valentine's Day party at school has been postponed. She was all ready to go too! I'm sure they will have a great time next week though.Chicky Magoo 2 's Gymboree has been canceled too. We are just hanging around the house today and playing board games. We aren't sure what the totals were for the snow and ice, but it was less than I thought it would be. I think yesterday we got about 3-4 inches of snow and who knows how much sleet. The sleet was pretty much coming down the whole day. It started before we got up and didn't turn back into snow until about 6:30 last night. I haven't been out today, but it looks like we may have gotten about 2-3 more inches of snow on top of all of that mess. Needless to say the roads don't look good right now. I think since nothing much is opened again today, that will give them some time to clear things off. We didn't get to go out in the snow yesterday, since it was mostly ice. The kids couldn't have done anything in the snow really. Maybe today they will head out, but somehow I doubt it since the wind chills are supposed to be pretty low.

Mr. Magoo says he has Valentine's Day cards for us, but they are stuck in his car that has ice all over it. Should I believe that? Yea- probably! :)

Weather Update...

It is still icing and not snowing yet. It has changed over a few times, but just for a brief period of time. I have no idea how much ice we have, but it has to be a lot! They keep saying that it will change over to snow, but I have yet to see it! Right now everything is pretty much closed. They have closed the malls, schools, and anything that isn't a real necessity. We will see about tomorrow!
More Snow!

We are under a winter storm warning now, and it is a mess outside. Chicky Magoo 1 's school has been canceled, so we are taking it easy today and don't plan on going anywhere. It snowed a little last night, but now it is freezing rain. They say it is going to turn back into snow and we could get anywhere from 6-12" on top of the ice. Sounds like GREAT driving conditions! Luckily we were prepared and went to the store the other day, so we don't really have any reason to be out. Chicky Magoo 1 was hoping we would be in the "only snow" category, but that seems to be on the north-side of Indy, where they are getting between 12-17" of snow! Once everyone is up and ready I'm sure I'll have some pictures to post! (I just hope the power doesn't go out with all of this ice!)

Ice Skating

Chicky Magoo 1 and I went out for some ice skating yesterday. It has only been about 15-20 YEARS since I was on skates, and this was her first time. It was a laugh! We suited up and walked on the skates for a few minutes to get used to just balancing on them. Then for some fun....we found the ice! They had walkers for the kids, but none for adults! (hey- what is up with that? The kids don't have that far to fall!) We went around the rink once and both Mommy and Chicky Magoo 1 took it pretty slow. Then by the second time Chicky Magoo 1 was having a great time and getting the hang of it. By the 4th time around she said "Okay- lets race!" She won of course! I didn't have a chance! We skated for about a hour and she was so proud of herself for skating. Then it was time to get off the ice, because they were going to play a game of hockey. Chicky Magoo 1 has asked to skate for about two years, and we finally got around to doing it, so she was VERY excited! By the way- I was the only person on the ice over about 18, but then again I was the only one who didn't fall either! Probably because I didn't really try any "tricks" like they were, but hey at least I didn't fall!

(PS. No that isn't a picture of me skating!)

Colts Rally at the RCA Dome!

Auntie Magoo 1, Uncle Magoo 1 and I went to the Colts Rally yesterday! They told everyone that the RCA dome would open at 3pm. The parade would be starting at 4pm and then the parade would go inside to the RCA dome for a rally afterward. So- off we went at 3pm to head downtown. We picked up Uncle Magoo 1 and got down around 3:45. Parking was another matter, and so at about 4:15 we were getting out of the car. The weather was FREEZING, and the windchills were at -20, but hey, we won the Super Bowl for crying out loud! I don't care what the weather was, we were determined to be down there! Once we parked we (along with everyone else down there) loaded up on the layers to head outside. Yikes- it was cold! I took Mr. Magoo's "Field and Stream" coat along with 3 other layers of clothing, 2 pairs of gloves and a super thick scarf. It was the height of fashion.! I looked like a man who weighted about 300lbs! Check it out....Sweet! :) I guess I thought I had to do the muscle pose too?!?

It was so fun to be downtown with everyone wearing blue. People were coming out from all over and screaming in the streets. We headed straight to the Dome thinking we would just skip the parade and hope for a warm seat. Good thing too, because when we got there at 4:30 the bottom section was full (or so we thought). Auntie Magoo 1 on the other hand begged to differ. She told Uncle Magoo 1 and me "Come on, we are going down." We both thought it was futile, but not Auntie Magoo 1. She was getting a good seat, no matter what! She got to the 9th row and found 2 seats. Then the guy in the row below it said we could have one of their seats. So- there we sat in the 9th row, while everyone else was filling in the top sections. GO AUNTIE MAGOO 1!

They had the game on, and we all watched it and cheered again, which I thought was a little funny. (since everyone there had already seen it before) The wave was going around quite a bit, while we waited. These two guys at the top section near the screen had a giant pair of cut-out scissors and a large poster with a picture of meat on it. People were cheering "CUT THAT MEAT" (like the Peyton Manning commercial) for a while. That was a good time.

The parade came on the jumbotron, and everyone went crazy! We all watched waiting for our chance to see the players. Then they cut to clips from the RCA Dome......AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! (that was about all we could hear!) The crowd went wild each time they said the words "RCA Dome" on the newscast. It reminded me of some sort of word of the day. RCA Dome....AHHHHHH!

Some of the players even braved the cold in the parade and didn't sit on the bus! A big thank you to those guys! I thought that was the right thing to do. They even shook hands while they were in the parade. It was nice of them to come out and be seen, not just sit on the bus!

The music started up at the dome, and the crowd went wild! We could see on the screen that the team was waiting to come in, and it was insane!!!! As they played the music, the trophy came in with Dungy holding it. We were all jumping up and down screaming and of course feeling pretty good! They rode it around the stadium and everyone got to see it close up. I got a decent picture, but was jumping so much I didn't get that great of a shot. Auntie Magoo 1 got an AWESOME one, and I'll post it as soon as I get a copy of it. The players were dancing and running around too. I think some of them had their touchdown dances going on. It was great!

Then for me the biggest moment....Dallas Clark came over to right near our section and did some sort of jig. I think Auntie Magoo 1 got some video of the dance. Boo-ya! I love that guy!

Anyway- it was some good fun last night!

Leaving the RCA Dome...

Did you really think that was the trophy? ha ha Some guy had one on the street he had made for people to touch as they walked by!

GO COLTS!

WHOO HOOO! I am SO happy the COLTS won! It was a crazy game to watch, and after 15 seconds I couldn't believe we were down! Chicky Magoo 1 was still sick, so we stayed home, but had a little party of our own. We stayed up to watch the people in the street braving the cold to celebrate! I couldn't believe people would be out in that weather, but then realized that maybe I had just gotten too old!! :) Today is the parade! We had promised Chicky Magoo 1 we would take her out of school to go to the parade, but now I'm not sure we are going. She is still running a fever and the actual temperature this morning was -4! We have windchills of -20, so I can't even imagine standing in that if we were healthy. They also said the players are going to be in buses because it is so cold. I personally think that is crappy! If you won a Super Bowl and there are thousands of people braving the cold to say congratulations to you, the least you could do was stand out and wave to thank them for 30 minutes! That just doesn't seem right to me!! The wind is supposed to calm by then, so you wouldn't be dealing with windchills then. Afterwards there is a rally at the RCA Dome. I wish we could go, but it doesn't look like it is in our plans.

RAIN on SUPER BOWL SUNDAY????

Damn Global Warming!
Super Bowl Sunday! (or should I say, Da Da Da Dah......)

With only one week off, I am already missing the football season, and there is still one more game to play! :) I think the off-season will feel like an eternity! When is August again?

Anyway- today is the BIG DAY! It will be great to see the Colts at the Super Bowl! I can't believe how into it the city has become! It seems like every sign you read says "Good luck!" or "Go Colts!", Churches are rebelling against the law, people are all wearing blue, and the city has become one big Colts fan! It has been a fun 2 weeks with all of this anticipation. Now for the game!

TV coverage started here yesterday at noon. Today at 9am another station joins in with their coverage. It should be a day filled with the "what if's" and "check these guys out!" for the stations. I can't imagine what they will talk about for 9 hours, but I bet they have it all ready to go. I guess they could just say things like "Wow- at least it isn't 0 degrees like it is there!" Yes, I just went and checked out outside thermometer, and that is the ACTUAL temperature. The windchill is -15! Yikes!

Auntie Magoo 1, Uncle Magoo 1, Mr. Magoo, the kids and I are hoping to get in to BW3s for the day. They said we have should get there when they open to get a seat for the game. That would be 11:00am, yes that is 7 hours BEFORE the game. We have a game plan of our own as to how to get the table, yet give us a break throughout the day from sitting at the table. We will see how that all works out! Chicky Magoo 1 has also had a fever for 2 days, so we will have to wait and see how today goes for her, and if we are actually going anywhere. The strategy involved for watching the game is quite amazing actually!!

Have fun at your parties today! What is everyone doing? Any good times being had?
Go COLTS!

So the World Really IS Small...

I have been trying to get a hold of old high school friends and set up a reunion. Yesterday, I got an email from a high school friend who I haven't talked to probably in about 5 years! I was SO happy to hear from her and how she was doing! The irony of the situation is that I found out she lives in APEX, NC, which yes is EXACTLY the same place we were last weekend! ACK! We were 4 minutes from her house, and didn't know it. Amazing!
